What: 36th annual Delaware Technology Student Association State Conference

Why: Over 728 students and advisors from across the state will gather to demonstrate their Technological, Innovative, Design and Engineering skills with 1508 entries into 65 hands-on, minds-on competitive events at the 36th annual Delaware Technology Student Association (TSA) State Conference to be held on April 29-30 at the State Fairgrounds. Events to be judged include Robotics, System Control Technology for leads online, CAD, Architectural Renovation, Video Game Design, Dragster Design, Engineering Design, Flight, Rocketry, Music Production, Structural Engineering, Graphic Design, Digital Video Production and many more
Delaware TSA’s service project this year is the American Cancer Society. At the conference several activities are planned with donations being collected for the American Cancer Society during the conference. The combined service activities and support from all of the TSA Chapters in the summer of 2013 led to the collection of $86,771 where Delaware TSA was honored by National TSA with the national Spirit of Service Award this past summer.
TSA is a youth leadership development organization for students enrolled in Technology Education classes. Professionals from many technical fields will serve as judges for the competitive events, which help prepare the students for their roles as leaders for the future. The top students selected will be eligible to represent Delaware at the National TSA Conference in Washington, DC this summer.
TSA competitions provide a hands-on venue for learning about technology, innovation, design and engineering beyond the classroom and give students the chance to pursue academic challenges among friends with similar goals and interests. Together, chapter members work on competitive events, attend conferences on the state and national levels and organize service projects in the community. Students learn leadership as members and may also run for officer positions in their chapter, state or nation. In addition to the competitions that will take place at the conference, voting delegates will select the next team of state officers.
Media Note: There will be many events to feature, including students working with robotics, drag-racing cars, structural engineering, problem solving, flight endurance, rocketry and more. Projects and students may be interviewed or photographed with permission of the contest coordinator depending upon the event.
