Fellow TSA members, I am proud to announce that it is indeed that time of year again! With fall already among us, TSA Chapters are preparing for a busy year ahead of them and many schools across the state have already begun scheduling meetings and recruiting new members! As the leaves turn from crisp greens to golden auburns, the yearly TSA Leadership Conference hides just around the corner and this year should be one that students will never forget!

For instance, joining with TSA middle school chapters on October 19th, 2010 to make this conference a spectacular one will be FCCLA and BPA, a combination that will be a truly new and exciting experience. Also, FCCLA high school chapters will be returning this year on October 20th, 2010 to co-host the high school Leadership Conference with TSA. And let’s not forget FOCUS Training who has returned year after year to make a lifelong impact on students in TSA and other organizations! It wouldn’t be the same without their unique style of teaching valuable skills and lessons. With all these brilliant minds located in one room, these conferences are going to be overflowing with fun activities and good times to be shared.

On the morning of the 19th, the middle school Leadership Conference will be held at the Sheraton hotel in Dover at 8:30 a.m. After everyone gets settled, and is ready to begin the day, FOCUS Training will take the lead with a two-hour training session for all organizations. This session might include anything from brainstorming about community service with your chapter officers or a fun event that includes FCCLA, BPA, and TSA all in one. The possibilities are endless! Lunch will follow suit and once everyone has had their fair share of the food the three associations will break off into their respective groups to have an officer workshop with their organization’s State Officers. All in all it should be a fun and rewarding experience for middle school students across the state! Don’t worry high school students, we haven’t forgotten about you! That being said, the morning of October 20th should start off about the same way as the middle school Leadership Conference will. The day will begin at 8:30 a.m and will be a daylong training session with FOCUS. State Officers from both FCCLA and TSA will be participating in the activities right beside the members from each Career and Technical Student Organization. Both the middle school and high school conferences will end promptly at 3:00 p.m.

From past experiences I know how useful the lessons taught at these Leadership Conferences are; each skill and trait required to be a leader is found in everyone and the workshops presented at these conferences will not only be helpful today but will carry with you into the future! I hope each TSA chapter attends this worthwhile event as the time endlessly races towards us!
